Poovar is a small coastal village located in Trivandrum district in the state of Kerala. Poovar is renowned for its spectacular beach, which has become a hot tourist attraction. It is assumed that the huge trading ships of King Solomon landed in a port called ?Ophir?, which later came to be known as Poovar. Poovar also holds the reputation for being one of the ancient Muslim settlements along the western coast of India. The Central Mosque in Poovar is believed to have been built by Malik ibn Dinar and his missionary team, almost 1,400 years ago.
